Lisa Bailey, Owner

Horses have been part of my life since childhood, and my love for them never went away. When my daughter was three, she developed a love for riding that brought me back to horses after years away. What started with her and a few horses soon grew into a dream of creating a place of our own.

That dream became RI Riding Academy, a welcoming farm and community where riders of all ages can learn, grow, build confidence, and experience the special bond that comes from caring for horses.

Today, the farm is a big part of our family life. When I'm not at the barn, I'm home with my husband, our three children, two dogs, and our cat. I'm incredibly grateful that what began with a little girl's desire to ride has grown into a place where I can share my lifelong love of horses with others.

Welcome to RI Riding Academy. We're so glad you're here!

Stacey Murphy is a second-generation horsewoman and the daughter of an American Quarter Horse trainer and breeder. Growing up on the show circuit and watching her father train and develop young horses gave Stacey an early foundation in horsemanship and horse training.

A USDF-certified instructor/trainer through Second Level, Stacey has studied both in the United States and Germany. She has worked with trainers including Karl Mikolka, former Brazilian Olympic Coach, rider at the Spanish Riding School, and USDF Hall of Fame trainer, and has participated in numerous clinics throughout New England. During her USDF training, she was introduced to the Balimo Program, developed by sports kinesiologist Eckart Meyners, which focuses on helping riders improve body awareness, balance, and movement. This work also provided her the opportunity to travel to Germany and study with Hannes Müller, head of the German Riding School in Warendorf.

For the last several years, Stacey has served as the official trainer for the Providence Police Mounted Command, ensuring that the horses and riders are well trained, prepared, and equipped. Stacey believes that every horse and rider is an individual and that training should never be a “one-size-fits-all” approach. She tailors her instruction and training to each partnership, with a focus on helping riders develop feel, understanding, confidence, and a stronger connection with their horse.
